A Lesson In Patience

Bible lesson time occurs every morning around 9 am…on a good day.  On a ‘mom’s running behind’ day it’s more like 9:30 am.  Today was a running behind day.  I had just began reading the chapter. “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one! 5 You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.”…and up goes Mia’s hand. God’s Dwelling Place

The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? ~Psalm 27:1

David speaks with great confidence and boldness.  He is completely without doubt as to the strength and power of His God.  None can compare and no one can move him…no matter how numerous or wicked they are…God is reigning victorious in his life. (more…)

Know Your Enemy

Have you ever considered someone a friend only to find they were truly your enemy?   I have.  Blame it on my naivety and my hope that all are genuinely who they say themselves to be.   Fail. (more…)

Humble Sinners

There are only two kinds of sinners – humble sinners and prideful sinners.    God does not help the latter but is pleased and delighted to teach the former.  All of us fall into one category or the other.  Psalm 25 speaks of both.

Indeed, let no one who waits on You be ashamed;
Let those be ashamed who deal treacherously without cause. ~Psalm 25:3 (more…)

My weekend free time found me perusing many interesting blog sites.  One I came across spoke of idolatry in the church.

The article spoke of how even Christian leaders can set themselves up as idols for people to worship.  Perhaps we shouldn’t call them ‘Christian’, rather, ‘religious’ leaders professing Christianity to satisfy their own self-gratifying appetites.  It warns of this: (more…)

My two-year old, Maylee, does not like to get her hair washed.  Every time I have her in the tub, when it is time to wash her hair, she gives an affirmative, “NO!”, screams and tries to get away from me.  Some days it’s worse than others, but there is never a day where she peacefully allows me to carry out the necessary task which I’ve been given. Just A Lamb

Considering Psalm 23, these are my thoughts:

Here I am,

just a lamb.

I wander; I stray,

lost night and day-

until my Shepard,

my protector,

He lovingly comes.

All that is good

He gives generously

til nothing in me

wants more than I need.

He gives me the rest

I so desperately need;

He makes me lie down

In a field sown in peace.

When He leads by His Spirit

and I cling to His Word,

the water He gives me

calms all…

makes my heart cease to stir.

Like my wool which appears

and is again cut away,

He restores my salvation;

Casts my sins far away.

I follow my Shepard

where I can do  right

that the Lord’s glory and truth

be the only image in sight.

Though the valley be deep

and the shadow be dark,

the shade cast by a serpent

can neither pierce nor alarm.

I am safe…

The staff of my Lord

Keeps me under His arm.

Every warrior of earth

comes seeking my life

yet I dine at a feast

as my Shepard ends all strife.

I have more than enough;

My cup over-runs;

If I have my Lord

His mercy and grace are my sun.

His house is my home;

I shan’t ever leave.

Jesus Christ the Lord

is in whom I believe.

I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. ~John 10:14
